Overview
Detroit Defense is seeking a Deputy Project Manager in their Troy, MI office to assist in managing the execution of projects associated with the Department of War (DoW). Detroit Defense delivers advanced solutions in Systems Engineering, Combat Vehicle Integration, Digital Transformation, Cybersecurity, IT, Data Analytics, and Software Development.
Role Summary
The Deputy Project Manager acts as the right-hand to the Project Manager, ensuring that the project's scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk, and stakeholder expectations are met in accordance with the organization's governance standards. The role provides continuity of leadership during the Project Manager's absences, escalates issues promptly, and drives day-to-day execution of project activities.
This is a hybrid remote position based in Troy, MI.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- •Lead planning, execution, and delivery of embedded software projects in compliance with model-based Digital Engineering practices.
- •Manage scope, budget, schedule, and risk reporting; communicate program status to upper management and stakeholders via Program Management Reviews and other formal and informal methods.
- •Develop and maintain project documentation, including status reports, risk registers, and technical requirement specs.
- •Work unplanned program issues to a best solution, including development of plans-forward, escalation and increased resources as required; resolve conflicts, demands, and priorities on assigned programs.
- •Identify and coordinate with key horizontal and vertical stakeholders between program major activities, teams, suppliers, partners, and customers; coordinate inputs from support organizations including engineering, contracts, finance, pricing, and others as needed.
- •Assist in preparation of responses to customer opportunities, including white papers, proposals, rough order of magnitude estimates, and responses to customer requests for information.
- •Occasionally travel to domestic or international customer sites (approximately 15%).
Requirements
- •Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College or University in an applicable field of study.
- •A minimum of five years of experience in business, finance, sourcing, cross-functional teaming, and/or project management.
- •PMP and/or PMI-ACP Certification (Highly Recommended).
- •GCIA Interface Framework experience (Highly Recommended).
- •FACE Extended Safety Profile environment experience (Highly Recommended).
- •Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Secret Security Clearance, if required.
