Overview
Ticketmaster's TM1 Marketing & APIs team is looking for an experienced, motivated, and self-driven Lead Software Engineer. The team produces systems that allow clients to unlock the power of data to make decisions regarding marketing to fans. This is a remote role based in the United Kingdom.
The Role
You will contribute to taking the marketing offering to the next level and building out new API systems to provide data to marketing partners and clients. This involves design, development, and production support of systems, as well as working with product teams and other engineering teams to shape the future of the application.

Responsibilities
- •Design and develop new systems and implement enhancements to existing systems, breaking down complex problems into essential components and building efficient solutions.
- •Work with product teams to gather and understand requirements, discuss approaches, design solutions, and create design documents keeping in mind costs, capacity, shelf-life, and choosing the right tools and technologies.
- •Design and develop high-traffic, large scale software applications as a full-stack developer, covering front-end UI, web and API services, data models, data flow processes, and infrastructure for deploying and maintaining systems.
- •Design and develop peripheral systems and processes including monitoring and alerting services, automated build and deployment pipelines, and systems for gathering application performance metrics.
- •Ensure best practices in system development including test coverage, enterprise standards, adherence to target architecture, high-availability, scalability, low latency, and fault-tolerance.
- •Create detailed documentation on systems and processes including onboarding checklists, system overviews, runbooks, and recommendations on future improvements.
- •Own solution design discussions and meetings to ensure systems are aligned in the bigger picture, and evaluate new tools and technologies for feasibility and cost.
- •Lead teams in development of new systems and initiatives by guiding, mentoring, and helping team members learn applications, technologies, best practices, and processes. Review code for quality, correctness, and efficiency.
- •Own project delivery from a day-to-day standpoint by participating in agile stand-ups, escalating blockers, ensuring timely completion of tasks, and communicating updates to stakeholders.
- •Act as a subject matter expert who shapes technical standards and practices beyond the immediate team.
- •Influence technical strategy and roadmaps through collaboration with other Tech Leads, architects, product teams, and senior stakeholders.
- •Drive adoption of reusable engineering patterns and improvements across related teams.
- •Represent the team in cross-functional technical decisions and communicate the wider implications of proposed approaches.
Required Skills and Experience
- •Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
- •Proficiency in one or more of Java, TypeScript, or NodeJS, with willingness to learn the others.
- •Proven experience building high-traffic web applications and deploying to production with a focus on quality and long-term maintainability.
- •Experience working with cloud-based platforms, preferably AWS.
- •Experience supporting live applications including debugging, reading logs, and using dashboards like Grafana or CloudWatch to identify and resolve issues.
- •Experience writing SQL queries and working with SQL databases such as MySQL and NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB.
- •Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools including Terraform, Kubernetes, and Helm.
- •Experience with code and build tools including GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, and Sonar.
- •Experience working in an Agile team environment.
- •Ability to work under pressure including handling production issues and on-call support.
Nice to Have
- •UI design experience building client-facing data applications.
- •Experience in the entertainment or online ticketing industry.
- •Familiarity with operating across diverse cultural and regulatory environments such as Europe, Asia, and South America.
- •Understanding of AI tools such as Claude in the software development lifecycle.
