To strengthen our Software team in Bengaluru, we are looking for a Lead SW Engineer – Embedded System Software.
Role Summary
The Lead SW Engineer is responsible for the software implementation effort for systems by performing the following activities: requirement analysis, process control, release control, design quality, implementation, and verification. The role covers Brakes products primarily but may extend to Passenger Information Systems, Event Recorders, HVAC, Doors, CVS, UMMC, and other products.
Responsibilities
- •Perform system requirements analysis
- •Develop software according to IST 669 and related documents, including validation in laboratory
- •Develop monitoring programs and other PC tools when needed
- •Participate in and support design verification and validation at end customer sites in India and abroad
- •Collaborate closely with developers, project managers, system integrators, test engineers, and customers
- •Collaborate with the Quality Laboratory to set up test benches
- •Ensure all engineering documents are issued in a concise, accurate, and grammatically correct form
- •Implement, debug, and solve problems in software products
- •Design code using UML tools (PlantUML, Enterprise Architect, StarUML, Markdown)
- •Document and design near to code following a docs-like-code paradigm
- •Work in a highly agile execution methodology
- •Integrate systems by creating test specifications and performing software and system tests
- •Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
- •Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
- •For selected engineers, coordinate software development in project platforms including:
- •Planning software activities in the platform
- •Reporting development status to the Software Design and Standardisation Team Leader
- •Alerting the Team Leader of delays and their causes
- •Ensuring application of coded practices and guidelines for software development
- •Verifying documentation produced by contractors
Qualifications
- •Bachelors or Masters in Engineering in Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or Electronics Engineering
- •2 to 8 years of hands-on experience in embedded real-time software design and development
Essential Skills
- •Strong hands-on experience in C
- •Demonstrated skills in developing embedded application software and bare metal programming
- •Well-versed in various IDEs
- •Hands-on experience with Git
Desired Skills
- •Hands-on experience in C++ for embedded application software
- •Secure software development lifecycle activities including SRS generation, Threat and Risk analysis, secure software architecture and design documentation
- •UML tools to generate structural and behavioral models
- •Requirement to design and conceptualization or prototyping
- •Source code maintenance at Git repository and build pipelining
- •Code review process and merge requests
- •Doxygen code documentation generation
- •Strong technical aptitude and effective oral and written communication skills
- •Demonstrated problem-solving ability with minimal supervision
- •Willingness to travel locally and internationally
- •Availability to be on vehicle during static and dynamic brake tests (commissioning)
Good to Have
- •Understanding of configuring and programming Embedded Linux systems including kernel, bootloader, file systems, and device drivers; experience in Yocto integration
- •Skills in developing low-level device drivers, Board Support Packages (BSP), and service configurations; board bring-up; SOM/SOC modules
- •Proficiency in configuring flash partitions, file systems, and mounting processes
- •Familiarity and implementational expertise in cybersecurity topics including Secure Boot, Secure Firmware Update, Cryptography concepts, and certificate-based authentication
- •Advanced debugging skills using tools like JTAG and USB analyzers
- •Experience with compilers, linkers, and debuggers for both Linux and microcontrollers
- •Experience in embedded development on TI CPU AM64xx
- •Understanding of IEC62443 standards
- •Scripting familiarity with Rust, Python, Shell, Bash, or Perl
- •Knowledge of Italian, French, or German language is beneficial
- •Knowledge of tools such as StP Software through Pictures, National Instruments CVI, QAC MISRA static analyser, Motorola Microcontroller Compilers and Linkers, Trace32 Debuggers and scripting
