Role
The Systems Engineer will analyze user requirements and system architectures, lead design and development activities, produce systems engineering documentation, and serve as the technical integrity owner for their area of responsibility. This role involves direct engagement with Government stakeholders and senior executives.
Responsibilities
Requirements Analysis and Systems Architecture
- •Analyze user requirements, Concept of Operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications
- •Manage system and derived requirements to ensure delivery of production systems compatible with defined system architectures such as DoDAF and SOA
Technical Leadership and Design Integration
- •Analyze system requirements and lead design and development activities
- •Guide users in formulating requirements, advise on alternative approaches, and conduct feasibility studies
- •Provide technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology
- •Incorporate new plans, designs, and systems into ongoing operations
Documentation and Planning
- •Develop technical documentation, system architecture, and system design documentation
- •Contribute to systems engineering documentation including System Engineering Plans, Initial Capabilities Documents, Requirements Specifications, and Interface Control Documents
- •Guide system development and implementation planning through preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans
- •Assist with allocation of system and functional requirements to hardware, software, facility, and personnel components
Government and Stakeholder Engagement
- •Interact with the Government regarding systems engineering technical considerations and associated problems, issues, or conflicts
- •Hold ultimate responsibility for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables within your systems engineering area
- •Communicate with program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives
Configuration Management and Cross-Discipline Coordination
- •Coordinate resolution of action items from Configuration Control Board meetings, design reviews, program reviews, and test reviews that require cross-discipline coordination
Qualifications
- •Demonstrated experience developing system requirements specifications from user requirements, Concept of Operations documents, and high-level system architectures
- •Experience with system architecture frameworks such as DoDAF and SOA
- •Experience producing systems engineering documentation including System Engineering Plans, Initial Capabilities Documents, Requirements Specifications, Interface Control Documents, and system integration and test plans
- •Experience allocating system and functional requirements across hardware, software, facility, and personnel components
- •Experience coordinating action items across Configuration Control Boards, design reviews, program reviews, and test reviews
- •Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience interfacing directly with Government stakeholders, program personnel, and senior executives
