Role

We are seeking an Optical Transceiver Reliability and Qualification Engineer to lead the reliability testing and qualification of our internally developed optical transceivers. As we prepare for upcoming prototype builds, you will partner closely with external vendors and internal engineering teams. You will drive reliability assessments, manage qualification execution, and lead failure analysis to ensure our products meet strict performance and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• •Develop and execute comprehensive reliability and qualification plans for optical transceivers from prototype to mass production.
• •Partner with manufacturing vendors to oversee testing execution, review data, and ensure adherence to quality requirements at our HQ location.
• •Investigate device failures during stress testing, identify root causes, and work with cross-functional teams on corrective actions.
• •Establish reliability test methods, environmental stress screening protocols, and life-testing criteria based on industry standards such as Telcordia and IEEE.
• •Review test data, generate qualification reports, and present findings to leadership and development teams.
• •Work with customers on reliability requirements and debug.

Qualifications

• •Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field.
• •Minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in reliability engineering, quality, or test engineering for optical components or transceivers.
• •Deep understanding of optical transceiver architectures, active and passive optical components, and photonic integrated circuits.
• •Understanding of semiconductor laser reliability, FIT calculation, and module qualification standards such as GR-468-Core.
• •Familiarity with industry reliability standards including Telcordia GR-468, GR-1221, and IEEE 802.3.
• •Experience with environmental stress testing including temperature cycling, damp heat, and biased life testing.
• •Experience with failure analysis tools such as SEM, EDX, CSAM, and optical microscopy.
• •Proven ability to manage technical relationships and drive execution with external contract manufacturers or component suppliers.
• •Ability to travel to Asia contract manufacturer factories.

Compensation

The new hire base pay for this role has a salary range of $150,000 to $230,000. Arista offers different pay ranges based on work location to provide consistent and competitive pay appropriate to the market. The actual base pay offered will be based on skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and work location. Certain roles may also be eligible for discretionary Arista bonuses and equity.
