Product Designer
Takeda is seeking a Product Designer with expertise in design thinking and the ability to distill user research insights into actionable design. This role extends beyond conventional graphic design by integrating insights into user behavior, regulatory expectations, and the unique challenges of medical device and combination product design. Success hinges on translating user needs into intuitive, compliant solutions across all PD group output areas: device design, packaging, IFUs and associated instruction materials (physical and digital), journey mapping, and user-needs research.
Responsibilities
•Partner with the lead designer to scope, design, and deliver user-centric physical and digital products including medical devices, combination products, digital products, and accompanying packaging with a focus on industrial design and user interface design.
•Create packaging artwork solutions compliant with regulatory, labeling, branding, and readability requirements, ensuring information is clear, accurate, accessible, and appropriately prioritized for intended users.
•Own product instructional design strategy, including instructional style guides and best practices. Primary instruction types include Instructions for Use, Quick Reference Guides, packaging branding, and other product labeling; secondary types may include digital IFUs, digital training tools, and video training support.
•Conduct exploratory research to gather user insights and design trends, evaluate user interface concepts, translate user needs into UX and interface requirements and specifications, and iteratively evaluate device user interfaces to ensure optimal user experience.
•Create user journeys, user interface illustrations, storyboards, prototypes, and wireframes.
•Learn about, understand, and advocate for the needs and experience of patients, clinicians, and other users in the development of Takeda's regulated products and services, focusing on patient-oriented needs identification and solutions.
•Select and apply the right tools for each output category including physical products, printed instructional materials, packaging, and digital solutions, and communicate design intent clearly through them.
•Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, human factors, quality, clinical and medical affairs, regulatory affairs, commercial, legal, and purchasing.

•Advanced Figma skills, including design systems, prototyping, and UX/UI design.
•Proven ability to transform low-fidelity concepts, wireframes, and mockups into high-fidelity, fully functional interactive prototypes and production-ready user interfaces.
•Strong visual design skills with attention to detail and consistency.
•Understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards in medical device design.
•Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
•Proficiency in AI-enabled design tools and workflows to support research synthesis, ideation, prototyping, visualization, and design communication.
