Overview

The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Public Buildings Division seeks a Senior Project Manager to manage complex capital commitment projects from conception through construction completion and close-out.

Location: 30-30 Thomson Avenue, LIC, NY 11101

Hours: Full-Time, 35 Hours per week

Responsibilities

• •Manage complex capital commitment projects across their full lifecycle
• •Review proposed projects to determine how and when work should be performed
• •Work with Sponsor Agencies from project inception to ensure understanding of each project's scope and vision
• •Generate cost estimates to determine the price at which a project should be bid
• •Develop deliverable dates and schedules to ensure projects are completed in a timely, cost-effective manner
• •Supervise, coordinate, and direct project design, construction management, and construction staff
• •Resolve construction or design issues as they arise
• •Negotiate with contractors and vendors
• •Process and review change orders and project estimates
• •Ensure all safety precautions are adhered to and work is completed on schedule
• •Generate reports and attend meetings
• •Oversee contractor performance
• •Supervise, coordinate, and direct Project Managers and Junior Project Managers
• •Report to the Deputy/Program Director

Qualification Requirements

Candidates must meet one of the following:

• •A four-year high school diploma or equivalent and five years of full-time satisfactory experience managing and/or inspecting one or more construction projects with a total cost of at least $300,000 for each of the five years; or
• •One year of the above experience plus a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, engineering technology, architecture, architectural technology, landscape architecture, construction, construction technology, or construction management; or
• •One year of the above experience plus a valid license as a professional engineer, registered architect, or registered landscape architect issued by a duly established board in any U.S. state or territory; or
• •A four-year high school diploma or equivalent and a combination of at least two years of the above experience and the above education totaling five years, with up to three years of experience substitutable at a rate of 30 semester credits per year

For Assignment to Level II: one additional year of satisfactory full-time experience in Assignment Level I, or one additional year of experience as described above.

For Assignment to Level III: two additional years of satisfactory full-time experience in Construction Project Manager Assignment Levels I and II, or two additional years of experience as described above.

Note: Candidates must specify for each construction project: a description of the project, the time period worked, the type of work performed, and the money allotted for the project.

Licensing Requirements

• •A motor vehicle driver license valid in the State of New York is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained for the duration of employment
• •Candidates with moving violations, license suspension, or an accident record may be disqualified

Work Authorization

• •Candidates must be currently authorized to work full-time in the United States
• •DDC is unable to support or sponsor any visa application or extension, including OPT/STEM, H-1B, F-1 practical training, or permanent residence sponsorship
• •Educational credentials must be from a U.S. Department of Education-recognized accredited institution; foreign credentials require independent equivalency verification from an approved evaluation service
