Job Description
Glovo is seeking a senior Business Performance & Controlling leader to own rider cost and operational performance across 20+ markets globally. The role involves driving business performance through challenging targets, analyzing KPIs across multiple dimensions, identifying high-value opportunities, managing material deviations, and leading financial planning cycles. The successful candidate will operate as a senior individual contributor without direct reports, influencing senior stakeholders and setting standards for the controlling function.
About Glovo
Glovo is part of the Delivery Hero Group, the world's pioneering local delivery platform, with a mission to deliver an amazing experience fast, easy, and to your door. Operating in around 65 countries worldwide and headquartered in Berlin, Germany, Delivery Hero has been listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange since 2017 and is part of the MDAX stock market index.
Your Mission
Rider cost is one of the largest cost lines at Glovo with more than 20 markets with very different economics. Your mission is to own business performance for the largest and most strategic markets, and to make sure the Controlling system behind them holds: that risks and opportunities are seen early, that targets get challenged rather than accepted, and that analysis turns into decisions markets actually execute. This is a senior individual contributor role with genuine decision ownership — the job is not to report on performance, but to drive it.
Responsibilities
•Own rider business performance across 20+ markets. Act as the senior counterpart to Country Heads of Operations, Finance and General Managers in the largest markets, challenging their targets, deviations and recovery plans without formal authority. Across the rest of the portfolio, steer the overall picture, coaching and stepping in when an issue becomes material, ambiguous or cross-market.
•Own the 360 degree view of rider business KPIs. Cost is the headline but only one dimension. Own the full performance picture including cost per order, budget delivery, utilisation, delivery times, reassignments, supply health and rider experience, and hold the trade-offs between them. A market that hits its cost target by quietly degrading service has not hit its target.
•Find the money and decide where to look for it. Identify the highest-value risks and opportunities, drawing on experiments, competitor benchmarks and market trends as much as internal numbers. Decide where the organisation spends its analytical effort and take deep dives all the way through to a decision, always with ROI in mind.
•Own material deviations end to end: root cause, accountable owner, recovery plan and follow-through to closure. The goal is that nothing material surfaces for the first time at month close.
•Lead the business narrative through Best Estimate, budget and annual planning cycles, owning the material trade-offs and senior decisions, and acting as the single reference point for FP&A and Finance leadership. Where returns justify it, make the case for additional investment to executive leadership.
•Raise the standard of the Controlling system itself — the standards, definitions, cadence, tooling usage and accountability that determine whether performance management is trustworthy. Own this globally and set the standard the whole function works to, with a Controlling colleague covering small and medium markets working on a dotted line. There are no direct reports today; as the function grows, there is a credible path to building a team.
•Be the business challenger to the analytics team, who own the forecasting, target-setting engine, models and performance tooling behind many of these decisions. Understand their work well enough to find its weaknesses and make it better, without trying to own it.
•Turn performance into decisions for senior leadership, VPs, Glovo leadership, Corporate Strategy and Delivery Hero counterparts through short, honest, decision-oriented communication.
What You Will Bring
•4 to 7 or more years in Business Performance, Controlling, Strategy and Operations, FP&A, Consulting, Marketplace or Operations, including at least one role with real accountability for a budget, a cost line or a market portfolio.
•A genuine ownership mentality and comfort operating without direct reports. You find the problem, form your own view, drive the decision, and make sure execution follows.
•A track record of challenging and influencing stakeholders more senior than you and getting them to move.
•Strong analytical problem solving. Ability to decompose a performance problem, interrogate someone else's model, and do the maths rather than wait for it.
•Comfort with ambiguity and the judgement to tell signal from noise and focus on what is material.
•Advanced Excel or Google Sheets, high comfort with complex data, and fluent English.
•Clear, direct communication. Leading with the conclusion and being transparent about what is not known.
•Comfort using AI tools to accelerate analysis.
•Nice to have: SQL or BI tools such as Looker at a confident user level.
•Nice to have: Financial fluency sufficient to hold your own with FP&A and Finance leadership on budgets, deviations and planning cycles.
•Nice to have: Experience in marketplace, gig-economy, logistics or quick-commerce businesses.
•Nice to have: Experience in a high-growth, multi-market or matrixed HQ-and-markets organisation.
