Role Summary
The Lead Software Engineer - Platform Test leads multiple project teams responsible for all stages of design and development for complex networking products and platforms, including solution design, analysis, coding, testing, and integration.
Responsibilities
•Lead multiple project teams of software systems engineers and internal and outsourced development partners across all stages of design and development for complex products and platforms
•Drive system design and implementation for platform software across core networking subsystems, including chassis/line-card platform services, Ethernet interfaces, optics, and the underlying system infrastructure
•Own architecture and end-to-end delivery within Junos or Junos Evolved — define interfaces between hardware and software and between various software components, evaluate design trade-offs, implement, and integrate across the networking software stack
•Partner with system and solution test teams to set quality bars, build performance and reliability requirements, provide feedback to test strategy, and shorten debug/triage cycles
•Work with support teams as the engineering owner to perform root-cause analysis on production issues, drive fixes to closure, and continually harden the switching platform for best customer experience
•Apply familiarity with 100G/400G/800G optics (LR4, CWDM4, DR4, FR4), transceiver qualification, and high-density fixed/modular platforms
•Develop scripting and automation using Python, pytest, Robot Framework, or gNMI-based automation
•Work with telemetry and monitoring technologies including gNMI/OpenConfig and SNMP
•Provide expertise and mentoring to team members and participate in cross-functional initiatives
•Communicate product architectures, design proposals, and negotiate options at senior management levels
Education and Experience
•Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent
•Typically 10-15 years of experience in software engineering
Knowledge and Skills
•Extensive experience with multiple software systems design tools and languages
•Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
•Experience in overall architecture of software systems for products and solutions
•Experience designing and integrating software systems running on multiple platform types into overall architecture
•Experience evaluating forms and processes for software systems testing and methodology, including writing and execution of test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
