Job Description
Salesforce is hiring a Senior/Lead Software Engineer for their AI Solutions team to design and build full-stack product and platform capabilities for developer productivity tools. The role involves developing features across DevBar, AI metrics, attribution systems, and developer intelligence surfaces, with responsibilities spanning desktop applications, backend services, data pipelines, and dashboards. The ideal candidate will have 6+ years of experience building production software, strong full-stack skills, demonstrated AI-first engineering practices, and expertise in modern development tools.
About Salesforce
Salesforce is the #1 AI CRM, where humans with agents drive customer success together. The world of work is changing and Salesforce is looking for engineers passionate about AI, innovation, and driving workforce transformation in the agentic era.
Team Overview
The AI Solutions team in Technology & Product builds the products and platforms that help Salesforce engineers use AI coding tools safely, effectively, and measurably. Work spans DevBar, AI usage telemetry, code attribution, budget governance, developer intelligence, and integrations that make AI tools easier to adopt at Salesforce scale.
What You'll Be Doing
•Design and ship full-stack features across AI Solutions products, including DevBar, AI metrics, AI attribution, Limits, and related developer intelligence surfaces
•Build backend APIs, data models, ingestion flows, dashboards, and user experiences that connect AI tool usage to outcomes engineers and leaders can act on
•Lead technical design for integrations with AI coding tools and internal platforms, turning ambiguous requirements into maintainable, scalable software
•Own what you build in production by improving observability, reliability, performance, and supportability as part of the software development lifecycle
•Build and ship high-quality, production-grade software using modern engineering practices, with AI as a core part of your development workflow
•Design and orchestrate complex systems where AI agents integrate seamlessly into human workflows
•Contribute to building and maintaining shared system context, an explicit repository of system designs, constraints, and standards that enables AI to operate accurately and reliably
•Critically evaluate code (human or AI-generated) for correctness, quality, security, and performance
Required Qualifications
•6+ years of experience designing and building production software, including full-stack applications, backend services, developer tools, or internal platforms
•Strong programming skills across frontend, backend, APIs, data stores, and distributed system boundaries
•Proficiency in at least 2 of: Java, Python, Rust, C++, JavaScript/TypeScript
•Experience taking ambiguous product or platform requirements from design through implementation, testing, rollout, and production ownership
•Ability to communicate clearly with engineers and partners, make sound technical tradeoffs, and lead complex work across teams
•Demonstrated AI-first approach to engineering using tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex, or Cursor
•Advanced prompt engineering skills and ability to write precise, structured prompts and cultivate system context for reliable, secure, production-ready AI outputs
•A related technical degree is required
Nice to Have
•Experience building developer tools, AI coding tool integrations, internal platforms, telemetry systems, or enterprise desktop applications
•Familiarity with React, TypeScript, Go, service APIs, event pipelines, analytics systems, or cloud and Kubernetes-based services
•Experience building self-service experiences, dashboards, plugin systems, command-line tools, or standard integration patterns for engineering teams
•Interest in AI developer productivity and helping engineering teams adopt AI tools in ways that are measurable, trustworthy, and scalable
Compensation
Typical base salary range: $148,500 - $260,100 annually. In select cities within the San Francisco and New York City metropolitan area: $178,900 - $285,800 annually. Range represents base salary only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits.
