The Project Manager reports to the Senior Director of Engineering and is responsible for end-to-end project management of varied projects across the manufacturing operation, managing projects from concept to commissioning within a varied manufacturing environment in the fields of process, packing, facilities, and utilities.

This is an onsite role based at our Roasting Plant in Alameda, CA with 30% travel to HQ in Emeryville and additional supply chain sites throughout the US.

Responsibilities

• •Ensure Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) requirements and legislation are implemented and compliant with legal and corporate standards in all projects, including LOTOTO, permit to work, hazard work permits, behavioral observation systems, and contractor management.
• •Mitigate or eliminate ergonomics and SHE risks in all projects executed.
• •Manage contractors in the work area, prepare permits, and review risk assessments and method statements.
• •Ensure Quality requirements and legislation are implemented and compliant with legal and corporate standards in all projects.
• •Ensure project designs and execution follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Hygienic Design principles, ISO, HACCP, and JDE Manufacturing Operating System Standards.
• •Lead pre-engineering scoping, costing, and capital expenditure request document preparation using JDE Peet's project management and technical standards.
• •Engage and communicate with all relevant stakeholders and project team members throughout the full project lifecycle to ensure deliverables meet all practical requirements including maintenance, operations, and training.
• •Provide regular project progress updates to steering committee, team members, and plant management.
• •Coordinate with internal and external designers, authorities, and JDE stakeholders for permitting, approvals, and documentation.
• •Oversee preparation of drawings and calculations for permitting, tendering, and documentation purposes.
• •Distribute project information to relevant team members and stakeholders based on the project RACI communication matrix.
• •Contact suppliers, obtain quotations for equipment, installation, and engineering services, and manage purchase order creation in line with budget and schedule.
• •Prepare RFQ technical documents and support tender and contract negotiation with Procurement; conduct Total Cost of Ownership assessments for major CAPEX equipment.
• •Ensure Technical Project Documentation is prepared, compiled, and shared; participate in safety assessments and reviews per local standards and JDE procedures.
• •Work with software engineers to develop User Request Specifications (URS) and review Functional Development Specifications (FDS).
• •Manage purchase requests, track deliveries, receipt goods, and resolve invoice discrepancies.
• •Plan and regularly review budget including updated forecasts; manage cost versus budget using Capex Pro Software and report actuals, commitments, and remaining spend weekly.
• •Start up installations with the project team and suppliers; ensure full snag tracking and close out through commissioning, qualification, and verification.
• •Ensure relevant handover documentation is in place including OEM manuals, training documents, and risk assessments; arrange appropriate training before installation start up.

Compensation

The target annual base salary range for this position is $125,000 to $150,000. Actual base salary will depend on qualifications, years of relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location. Individuals may also be eligible for bonuses.
