Overview
IQVIA is a leading global provider of clinical research services, commercial insights, and healthcare intelligence to the life sciences and healthcare industries. We are seeking a VP & Managing Director, Large Pharma to lead one of IQVIA's most important strategic partnerships. As the senior owner of the clinical relationship for a designated large pharmaceutical customer, this leader will combine clinical development expertise, strategic account leadership, and operational excellence to accelerate the customer's development portfolio and strengthen long-term partnership value.
This role mobilizes IQVIA's global delivery operations, data and technology assets, governance structures, and strategic resourcing models to ensure consistent, high-quality execution and sustainable growth. Acting as the senior operational bridge between IQVIA and the customer's clinical organization, the VP & Managing Director will anticipate evolving needs, mitigate risk, and align complex matrix teams around shared priorities.
Strategic Partnership Leadership
- •Serve as the senior operational liaison between IQVIA and the customer's clinical development organization.
- •Lead the preferred provider partnership by shaping strategic resourcing models and identifying opportunities to deepen collaboration.
- •Mobilize global IQVIA teams to anticipate customer needs, align delivery priorities, and strengthen partnership value.
- •Drive year-over-year organic growth, expand customer market share, and sustain high levels of client satisfaction.
Operational Governance & Delivery Excellence
- •Chair or co-chair operational governance forums and oversee resolution of escalations across the partnership.
- •Ensure high-quality delivery across Global Product Development by aligning resources, sharing best practices, and strengthening customer confidence.
- •Lead portfolio-level risk management across the customer's clinical development programs.
- •Track and optimize RDS and RWLP delivery performance in partnership with global business unit teams.
Commercial & Financial Leadership
- •Partner with Sales, Global Business Operations, and account leadership on financial tracking, LSFR activity, and strategic partnership opportunities.
- •Own achievement of annual net revenue targets of $100M+ at targeted profitability levels.
- •Apply strong financial acumen to pricing, margin management, investment decisions, and long-term account planning.
People Leadership & Cross-Functional Influence
- •Lead and mentor global teams across Quality, Data Management, Lifecycle Safety, delivery operations, and other key functions.
- •Establish goals, delegate effectively, and elevate team capability through coaching, accountability, and performance focus.
- •Build trusted relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders across geographies and functions.
- •Orchestrate matrix teams to ensure alignment with customer strategy, IQVIA best practices, and operational commitments.
What We're Looking For
- •Deep expertise in clinical development, clinical operations, and global delivery models.
- •Strong understanding of pharmaceutical and biotechnology business models, development priorities, and operational challenges.
- •15-20 years of experience in pharma, biotech, CRO, clinical operations, commercial, business development, project management, data management, laboratory, or pre-clinical environments.
- •Proven success in senior client management, strategic partnership development, and influencing C-suite stakeholders.
- •Exceptional communication, negotiation, critical thinking, and executive stakeholder management skills.
- •Strong matrix leadership capability with cultural agility across global teams and complex client environments.
- •Demonstrated ability to deliver results aligned with customer expectations, company objectives, financial goals, and quality standards.
- •Solid financial analysis skills, including margin management, revenue planning, and strategic decision-making.
- •Ability to design and execute strategic and tactical customer plans that translate priorities into measurable outcomes.
Compensation
The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $165,400.00 - $460,800.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule. Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
