Senior HR Business Partner role at Zenith American Solutions focused on delivering HR services to stakeholders by maintaining partnerships and aligning business objectives with labor/management relationships. Responsibilities include employee relations management, labor relations administration, policy implementation, investigations, and providing strategic HR counsel on complex issues. Requires 8+ years of HR experience, deep knowledge of employment laws, and union environment expertise.
Position Summary
The HR Business Partner, Sr delivers value-added service to stakeholders by maintaining partnerships throughout the organization that align business objectives with labor/management relationships.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
•Establishes and nurtures relationships with executives, managers, employees, and labor unions.
•Consistently delivers high-quality decisions and counsel to managers and employees.
•Serves as a subject matter expert on complex HR issues with significant impact.
•Manages Employee Relations situations to maintain a productive work environment, achieve optimal performance, and minimize risk to the Company.
•Proactively identifies and analyzes employee relations situations or circumstances; recommends appropriate action and facilitates resolution or correction.
•Administers progressive discipline program by coaching and counseling managers and employees in performance management issues; assists in drafting improvement plans and supports improvement efforts through continued communication and follow-thru.
•Counsels employees on conduct issues in disputes with co-workers, supervisors, subordinates or management; illness and/or disability; and performance challenges. Facilitates dispute resolution.
•Receives and responds to employee relations complaints; conducts investigations with minimal supervision; recommends course of action for resolution. Manages tracking.
Labor Relations
•Administers and interprets various labor agreements; administers grievance procedures; provides labor relations support during contract negotiations; acts as liaison between managers and union representatives.
•Recommends and implements policy and process improvements. Tracks and reports work activities, response time and quality of output.
General Employment
•Engages with employees and management to review requests for accommodation for leave, disability, and Workers' Compensation issues. May be involved with sensitive and more complex claims.
•Monitors unemployment claims. Participates in the EEO/Wage and Hour regulatory complaints. May represent the Company at investigative conferences, depositions, unemployment hearings, and meetings.
•Conducts presentations to management and employees on employee relations topics. Supports training programs for various levels within the organization on policies, sexual harassment, legal issues, and performance management.
•Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
•Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or Communications.
•Eight years of experience working in Human Resources as a generalist or in employee relations consulting on moderate to complex employee relations issues.
•Extensive knowledge of state and federal employment and labor laws and compliance requirements.
•Experience and expertise in supporting a union environment including grievance responses, labor contract interpretation, participation in labor negotiations and managing labor/management relationships.
•Commitment to maintaining the highest level of confidentiality with employee and company information.
•Ability to proactively manage and administer a broad range of tasks including resolving complaints, counseling managers and employees on the interpretation of policies, procedures, and union agreements.
•Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions consistent with company policies, practices, and culture.
•Experience creating reports and presentations suitable for executive audiences.
•Experience creating and conducting training sessions for business leaders and employees.
•Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
•Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to inspire trust and collaboration.
•Excellent interpersonal skills and a customer service approach to problem solving.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and applications and HRIS.
Preferred Qualifications
•PHR/SPHR certification.
•Master's Degree in Business or Human Resource Management.
•Knowledge of third-party administrator environment.
Working Conditions
•Normal office environment; typically sitting at a desk or table, working on a computer in excess of 75% of the time.
•May be required to work remotely.
•Travel to other offices throughout the country as required (varies depending on business needs).
