HR Generalist

BKF is seeking an HR Generalist to partner with our dynamic Human Resources team in fostering a positive workplace culture and enhancing our employee experience. This role is responsible for independently managing a broad range of HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, performance management, and compliance. The ideal candidate will be proactive, solutions-oriented, and passionate about supporting employees and business leaders. This position will report to our Pleasanton office with a hybrid schedule after successful onboarding and training.

Responsibilities

• •Serve as a resource to employees and managers regarding HR policies, procedures, programs, and workplace matters.
• •Provide guidance and support on routine to moderately complex employee relations matters, escalating sensitive or high-risk issues as appropriate.
• •Partner with managers on performance management, coaching, employee development, corrective action, and performance improvement processes.
• •Coordinate employee lifecycle activities, including onboarding, employee changes, leaves of absence, and offboarding.
• •Support annual HR programs and processes, including performance reviews, compensation and rewards cycles, employee engagement initiatives, and required training.
• •Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data, process employee changes, and ensure documentation complies with company standards and applicable requirements.
• •Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and support HR audits, reporting, and policy updates.
• •Prepare and analyze HR reports and workforce data to identify trends and support HR and business decision-making.
• •Partner with HR team members and internal stakeholders to respond to employee inquiries and ensure the consistent delivery of HR programs and services.
• •Prepare, review, and maintain HR documentation, including job descriptions, policies, procedures, and employee communications.
• •Identify and recommend improvements to HR processes, programs, and the overall employee experience.
• •Support special projects and other HR initiatives as needed.

• •Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• •3-5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in an HR Generalist or comparable HR role.
• •Working knowledge of HR best practices and applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.
• •Experience supporting employee relations, performance management, employee lifecycle processes, and HR program administration.
• •Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees and managers at all levels.
• •Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• •Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HRIS systems.
• •Experience in the AEC, consulting, or professional-services industry preferred.
• •HR certification, such as PHR or SHRM-CP, is a plus.
• •Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive information with discretion.
• •Ability to travel to various BKF offices as needed.

The typical base salary range for this position is $79,000 - $105,000 per year and may vary depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location. This is a salaried position paid bi-weekly.
