Overview
Guidehouse is seeking a Federal Staff Accounting Consultant to support an advisory team providing financial management services to a federal client. The role involves technical accounting, financial reporting, and day-to-day federal financial management operations.
What You Will Do
•Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of technical and general ledger accounting and prepare federal financial statements and notes.
•Read, interpret, and develop financial management regulatory and/or accounting guidance and procedural documents.
•Verify the accuracy, completeness, and validity of a wide variety of accounting functions and transactions including fund balance with Treasury, accounts receivable, obligations, accrued expenditures, disbursements, appropriation refunds, reimbursable orders, earnings, collections, eliminations, and journal vouchers.
•Prepare and review documents from varied sources for accuracy, validity, expenditure limitation, and correct accounting data.
•Balance and maintain subsidiary ledgers and perform various reconciliations such as un-liquidated contractual obligations, fund balance with Treasury, accounts receivable, unfilled customer orders, and other United States Standard General Ledger (USSGL) accounts.
What You Will Need
•Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD Public Trust clearance; active Public Trust or Suitability preferred.
•Bachelor's Degree in Accounting; client approval may be requested for degree type outside of Accounting.
•Two or more years of experience in accounting, financial management, interpreting and analyzing data, and developing business requirements for a financial accounting team or similar in a CFO-level organization or financial/budgeting environment.
•Knowledge of Federal accounting concepts and standards, Federal procurement concepts including the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Act, Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA), Government Management Reform Act (GMRA), Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), Treasury Financial Manual (TFM), and relevant OMB circulars and bulletins.
•Proficiency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
•Organized with the ability to prioritize work and exercise independent judgment, wisdom, and initiative.
Nice to Have
•Willingness to learn and participate in business development activities and internal firm objectives.
•Experience working directly with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
•Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or other federal financial management/accounting certification such as Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) or Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM).
Compensation
The annual salary range for this position is $74,000 to $124,000. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors including skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
