Overview

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a Senior Project Manager to manage one or more intermediate or complex projects within a matrix team environment. This role provides leadership, direction, training, coordination, and effective communication across all project phases to achieve short and long range goals and maximum customer satisfaction. The position is on-site in Corpus Christi, TX.

What You'll Do

• •Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and supervise assigned project activities utilizing various project management principles and techniques including Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
• •Support and hold employees and contractors accountable for the AEP System Safety Process, ensuring a safe working environment focused on Zero Harm.
• •Manage, develop, review, and coordinate the project/outage plan, schedule, and budget. Manage cost and timely reallocation of funding.
• •Effectively communicate project details and status updates. Lead planning meetings and stakeholder presentations. Provide clear written and oral reports.
• •Develop and actively manage working relationships with project teams, plant and operating company staff, internal and external customers, contractors, vendors, and suppliers.
• •Provide specific guidance, instruction, and training to improve design, systems, procedures, processes, schedules, and costs.
• •Mentor other project managers and direct sub-team project managers as assigned.
• •Develop and manage procurement plans for outside resources. Manage contracts including developing RFPs, evaluating bids, selecting vendors, participating in contract negotiations, and overseeing vendor performance.
• •Conduct and supervise project closeout processes, including analysis of project success relative to objectives and benefits realization.
• •Develop an understanding of AEP project management organizational standards and assist in managing projects to those standards.
• •Manage programs as assigned.

What We're Looking For

• •Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Project Management, Computer Science, or related field with 5 years of qualified experience; OR
• •Two-year associate's degree in the same disciplines with 7 years of qualified experience; OR
• •High School Diploma/GED with 9 years of qualified experience.
• •Two years of experience as a Project Manager (Grade 7) or demonstrated equivalent competencies achieved in a shorter timeline.
• •Qualified experience includes project management, major construction field experience, project estimating, project controls, project engineering, or comparable experience in a competitive production environment.
• •Experience must exhibit progressively increasing project management and business acumen across most certifying body knowledge areas.
• •Demonstrated knowledge in construction safety, negotiations, scope development and control, cost estimating, construction contracting, project controls and reporting, quality control, and risk management.
• •Experience in utilities, commercial nuclear power, and/or IT systems is favorable.
• •PMP certification is preferred but not required.
• •Valid state driver's license is required.

• •Ability to organize project activities, delegate tasks, set team expectations, and hold team members accountable.
• •Promote continuous improvement and maintain a strong questioning attitude.
• •Ability to safely perform light physical duties including construction site walkdowns on unstable surfaces, climbing ladders, and awareness of hazardous site conditions.
• •Work performed at various AEP locations including home, office, power plants (including nuclear), and construction sites for Distribution, Transmission, Generation, and Telecom infrastructure.
• •Travel is typically 25% or less, though greater travel may be required for specific assignments.

Compensation

Compensation Range: $98,993 - $128,688 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
