Job Description
Merck & Co. is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join the PMO (Project Management Office) at their Biotech Dublin site. The role involves managing projects related to process improvement, new system delivery, and new product introduction within a biopharmaceutical manufacturing environment. The Project Manager will lead cross-functional teams, apply various project execution methodologies, govern portfolio cycles, manage risks, and mentor project leads while contributing to continuous improvement of project management processes.
Overview
A new opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to join the PMO (Project Management Office) of our Biotech Dublin site. The role is of key importance to the PMO and risk management team at our facility.
As part of our company's manufacturing network, the Biotech Dublin team manufacture, test and release critical biologics products used globally in lifesaving medicines. To support excellence in project delivery, the site is supported by a local PMO team responsible for both leading and governing cross-functional projects on site.
The Project Manager, PMO will become a key member of the local PMO team and provide on-site support for both the utilisation and development of project management and risk management processes on site.
Responsibilities
•Project management of selected projects within the site's project portfolio, including process improvement, new system delivery and NPI (New Product Introduction) projects
•Lead and support rapid improvement projects through the application of the most appropriate project execution methodology for the given business challenge (Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, etc.)
•Work with project sponsors at initiation to ensure the project scope is fully defined and understood
•Lead project management best practice by partnering with cross functional teams to ensure project execution is to plan
•Resolve issues and escalate risks in a timely fashion to the relevant on-site and above-site stakeholders
•Lead and support monthly governance cycles including preparation of presentation material and chairing of site Portfolio Governance and Risk Council meetings
•Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of standardised and robust project management and risk management processes on site
•Contribute to the continuous improvement of portfolio governance on site and benchmark against global best practices across all industries
•Provide teaching and coaching to effectively transfer project management skills into the organization for the development of Project Leads on site
Required Experience
•Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Operations Management, Engineering, Science or related field
