DaVita is seeking a Director of Strategy & Special Projects to lead strategic initiatives within the Payor Partnerships team, which manages an $8B revenue portfolio. The role involves end-to-end ownership of complex strategic projects including contract negotiation strategy, product development, and policy impact assessment. The director will manage project teams, create strategic recommendations for senior leadership, and drive cross-functional collaboration in a hybrid Denver-based position.
Overview
The Payor Partnerships team at DaVita manages an $8B revenue portfolio and a high-growth national value-based care business encompassing more than $5B of medical spend. Within this team, the Strategy function sets the long-term vision and drives disruptive thinking on how to approach the portfolio of payor relationships and contract negotiations. The team spans negotiating strategy, product strategy, marketing strategy, and broader enterprise strategy, driving high-priority initiatives from concept to execution.
This is a hybrid role based at DaVita's Denver Headquarters, requiring three days a week in the office (Tuesday through Thursday).
Role
As Director of Strategy & Special Projects, you will help shape the future of the business by taking end-to-end ownership of a complex portfolio of strategic initiatives and contributing to the broader direction of the strategy function. Your work will directly impact a significant portion of DaVita's overall revenue and the care experience for hundreds of thousands of patients.
Example Projects
•Setting the negotiating strategy for renewing dialysis rate and value-based care management contracts with a large, national payor across multiple lines of business
•Building a business case for developing a new value-based financial product
•Assessing the impact of a new healthcare policy on the payor industry and translating into short and long-term implications
•Identifying disruptive opportunities to ensure annual rate increases exceed inflation and cost trends
•Refining the value proposition to payors across dialysis and value-based kidney care management businesses
Responsibilities
•Shape the direction of the strategy function, translating complex, ambiguous problems into actionable frameworks
•Exercise end-to-end ownership for a portfolio of strategic work, including planning, execution, and delivery
•Manage project teams of managers and analysts; coach, mentor, and train more junior team members
•Create high-quality presentations with clear strategic recommendations for senior leaders, including C-suite executives
•Independently structure and lead analytics to support strategic decision-making
•Work cross-functionally with leaders across lanes to deliver on goals, exerting influence without formal authority
•Proactively align resources with priorities and consistently remove barriers to team and project success
Qualifications
•Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience with a track record of progressive responsibility
•Experience in healthcare strategy within a top-tier consulting firm or provider, payor, or healthcare services organization
•Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to bring structure to complex, ambiguous questions with end-to-end ownership of workstreams
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to deliver clear recommendations and influence decision-makers at all levels
•Highly proficient in PowerPoint and Excel
•High degree of ownership, accountability, and a get stuff done mindset
•Collaborative mindset with experience working across functions and teams to drive results
•Comfortable in a fast-paced, feedback-rich environment with shifting priorities
•Strong analytical capabilities, with the ability to determine appropriate level of analytical rigor needed to answer a strategic question

•Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred but not required

Compensation & Benefits
•Salary range: $115,000 to $183,000 per year
